Helena Noordhoff

is a Honolulu-based printmaker and educator raised on the island of Oʻahu. She discovered her passion for printmaking at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa under the mentorship of Charles Cohan and earned her MFA in Print Media in 2022. She currently teaches printmaking and 2-D media at Leeward Community College while actively exhibiting her work locally.

Noordhoff primarily works in screen printing and intaglio. She is drawn to screen printing for its capacity to build layered imagery and meaning, and to intaglio for its physicality and intimacy. Both processes support reflection and deliberate attention within the studio.

Her work explores shared perceptions surrounding mental health and emotional conditions, focusing on labels and diagnoses that shape how these experiences are understood. Through symbolic imagery and printed form, she invites viewers to consider empathy, awareness, and personal reflection.

Noordhoff uses printmaking as a means to slow down perception and create space for contemplation around emotional complexity and care.
